Pen Coed wind farm site, Powys (2006)

In the mid-2000s, there was intensive activity by wind farm developers in areas identified by the Welsh government as potentially suitable for wind energy schemes.  Sometimes, rival developers were simultaneously working on schemes on adjacent land, resulting in interesting times for environmental consultants working for a range of clients.  I worked on this scheme whilst at Hyder Consulting, and on arriving at WYG in early 2007 found that not only had they  been busy on the adjacent site, Carnedd Wen, we had actually surveyed some of the same land !

On the Pen Coed site, I undertook detailed Phase 1 habitat survey, NVC survey and upland habitat condition assessment.
