Roscoe’s Wood, Cronton Road, Huyton, Knowsley, Merseyside (2007-2009)

I carried out Extended Phase 1 habitat survey, desk study and assessment of likely ecological issues for a client interested in purchase of land for potential employment development.  Part of the site was designated as a Local Wildlife Site, and therefore protected by from development by local plan policy.  However, in a quirk of the local plan, the entire site including the LWS had been designated for employment development; the area was viewed by the council as an important gateway point for Knowsley, being just off the M57/M62 and across the road from an existing business park.

I prepared an ecology report which was used as the basis for the ecology chapter in the EIA submitted with the planning application.

Outline planning permission was granted in July 2011 and mixed development on the site is currently being promoted by the landowner and Knowsley Council.
