Hunting for sand lizards in the dunes of North Wales (2012)

Every year the sand lizard population in the dunes near Prestatyn is monitored by a team of volunteers.  This year, I’m joining in.  So far, I’ve been out three times to dunes at Presthaven and Gronant searching for sand lizards and seeing common lizards !

I’m assured that there are indeed sand lizards about – in fact, every time I come out, someone else sees one, but I always miss out (it’s becoming a bit of a joke actually!) –  in the meantime check out the photos at the Gronant Sand Lizard project website.

I’ll be back at this site several times over the summer so am hoping to see a real live sand lizard for myself very soon…
