Harvest mouse survey, Warrington (2012)

Members of Cheshire Mammal Group convened at Gatewarth in November to hunt for any signs of harvest mice at a site on the landfill where captive bred mice were released some years ago.  The habitat seems pretty good, but there were no nests to be found, despite thorough searches 😦 so no cute mice pictures today, sorry.

It has to be said that parts of the landfill do still smell somewhat “petrochemically”, so maybe that’s why we didn’t find anything.  We all agreed that the site was worth another look next year though, if the mice are there but at low density it could take a while to find definite evidence of presence.
