Ecological appraisal, Norley, Cheshire (2013)

I recently completed an extended Phase 1 and ecological appraisal of a small greenfield site in Norley village.  As always, in this part of Cheshire, the potential for great crested newts needs to be considered, but apart from that the site seems to have few issues and the client seems keen to retain existing features of ecological interest, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the project develops.

Update January 2014: After great crested newt survey was carried out by other consultants (and no great crested newts were found), the application was refused on the grounds of being out of character with the rest of the village – having a relatively high density of dwellings.  An appeal is underway at the time of writing.
