Although I sometimes work on research projects, most of the time I undertake surveys and produce reports to support development proposals. Planning policies and wildlife legislation can be complex, and I see my contribution to development projects as being about regulatory compliance. I help clients prepare the best possible planning application by advising on what is likely to be required to help their project get consent. I then get on and do whatever survey work and reporting may be needed to satisfy the local authority. All work is in accordance with professional guidance and best practice and so is compliant with BS42020:2013 Biodiversity: Code of Practice for Planning and Development.

I also get involved with a wide range of other survey work – just browse the tags on the left under “Everything I’m into” and see what I’ve been up to lately.
I have recently completed the City & Guilds Education and Training Award Level 3 in preparation for an anticipated move into training and tutoring.
I’m also training in accountancy with a view to offering self-employed bookkeeping and more in the future. I am an AAT qualified bookkeeper.
