I’ve been doing these reports since 1998 and have completed literally hundreds for developments from single homes to giant infrastructure projects.
An ecological appraisal incorporating Phase 1 habitat survey is ideal for supporting a planning application or site management plan and as a means of scoping for the ecology work required for a formal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The report includes a desk study to summarise the available information on the ecology of the site using web-based data sources, local records centres, professional experience and judgment. This is supplemented by a Phase 1 Habitat Survey of the site. The report can be tailored to suit your requirements, but usually identifies ecological features of interest, any constraints to the proposals, outline recommendations for managing constraints and any requirement for additional ecological surveys.
